Greetings ~

Throughout history, there has been so many shipwrecks where heroes died in the attempt to save women and children. A prime example was the RMS Titanic with it's stories of men standing at the rails bidding farewell to their wives and children knowing that their fate was sealed in the ocean below.
We read stories all the time whereas the very best of mankind is evident in the worst of situations. But once in awhile, there are those tales of downright cowardice. I guess none of us can really know just how we would act in a situation such as these. But this is a story of men, (and I use that term loosely), who not only left all of the women and children to die, but actually, in some cases, pushed the ladies and little ones aside so that they could get their seats in the lifeboats.
Of course, I fully understand men jumping onto floating items such as deck chairs, old pieces of planking and such to save themselves. That is totally normal. And I also understand taking the last few empty seats in the lifeboats. But how could any man live with themselves knowing that they had left women and children on the decks of a sinking ship while they were snug in a lifeboat?
This is the story of such a situation. Many of these survivors never returned to their home country out of shame and worry as they knew how they would be treated by the public. I hope that the screams and cries for help from the ones left onboard and in the freezing waters haunted them for the rest of their lives. And I hope that the few heroes involved here continue to get their dues.
